After a period in retirement, BBC Two’s iconic ‘whizzy 2’ was dusted down, redesigned and put back to work to celebrate flagship programming and seasons.
BBC Two was experiencing a bit of a stagnation problem. It still had a loyal fan base that remembered the iconic idents of the 90s but it didn’t really stand for much among younger viewers.
Our aim was to reinvigorate the channel for our key fans, while showing its lively, witty, charming side to a whole new audience.
So we created a series of fresh idents to highlight new seasons – Indian Season and Springwatch – and other key BBC Two programming including Wimbledon and the Masters snooker.
The result was a range of playful idents that capture the essence of the channel and engage an intelligent audience in a fresh and unexpected way.
