London Marathon

BBC

The London Marathon is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet.

It’s an exotic mix of elite runners, keen amateurs and those running for charity or to reach a personal goal. Completing the spectacle are the thousands of spectators lining the route, wildly cheering the professionals and fun-runners alike.

For the viewer it’s a riot of colour; a chance to spot friends or relatives running; to hear the extraordinary stories of the many runners or simply to see some of London’s famous attractions. Buckingham Palace, Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, The Eye and The Tower of London are all part of the marathon’s rich canvas.

For Red Bee Media, the marathon is a fabulous creative challenge. How to capture the spirit, endeavour and sheer joy of this amazing event in a mere 30 seconds?

There is something heroic and poetic in the hopes and triumphs of the thousands who start out on the 26.6 miles around London. In 2010 we captured that spirit in verse, and added a highly engaging treatment of stills to give added standout in cluttered junctions.
