We created a personalised app for The Walking Dead targeting fans on Facebook to drive buzz around the launch of Season Two.

THE CHALLENGE

The Walking Dead is a Golden Globe-nominated drama following a group of survivors in a post-apocalyptic zombie world, from the director of The Shawshank Redemption. After the hugely successful Season One, FOX challenged Red Bee Media to help broaden the audience and drive the ratings even higher for Season Two.

THE SOLUTION

We created a personalised Facebook app targeting the millions of Facebook fans of the show worldwide, along with their friends and family. The app centres on a film that immerses the viewer in the show’s premise – what it’s like to be “left behind” by The Walking Dead. The innovative use of Facebook Connect and users’ own webcams seamlessly create a personalised survivor experience.

THE RESULT

The app went live in early October and is running across the individual Facebook pages of over 20 FOX global markets.

Personalised Content

We used Facebook Connect to access and seamlessly incorporate a user or recipient’s personal details and images into a filmic first-person experience of surviving a zombie apocalypse.

Webcam Integration

A user’s own webcam was used to capture footage used for the scary end sequence.
